Weights are attached to the bare bow in order to achieve a certain stabilization when firing. The weight ensures that the bow does not tilt towards the archer after releasing the shot, but rather remains in a stable, upright position. With bare bows, unlike the Olympic recurve bows, the center of gravity is behind the pressure point of the hand, so that these bows tend to tilt backwards without the use of additional weights.
